Boesky Gallery
For it's 30th anniversary—a milestone that marks the legacy and continued influence—Marianne Boesky Gallery made a bold move to shorten the name. Our objective: create consistency and provide a platform for new voices in contemporary art.
- Brand Identity
The Wordmark
The wordmark was drawn, not typeset. Each letterform was constructed with the patience the gallery extends to its artists: considered in proportion, exact in spacing, and then released of any visible effort. What remains is a mark that feels inevitable, as if it had always existed and simply needed to be found. It carries three decades of history without ceremony, and it is built to travel, from a Chelsea facade to a Paris doorway to the corner of a sales sheet, without raising its voice.
Concept
A gallery is a frame that knows when to disappear. For thirty years, Marianne Boesky has built careers rather than moments, giving artists room to become themselves. The identity follows the same principle. It holds the work. It never competes with it.
Typography
The typographic system pairs restraint with warmth. A single family leads, chosen for the quiet confidence it holds at every scale, from wall text read at arm's length to a caption on a phone. Its letterforms are polished without being cold; there is a softness in the details that rewards a second look, the hint of ease beneath the precision. The system works the way the gallery works: rigorous where it matters, relaxed where it counts, and always in service of the art it accompanies.
System
The identity establishes a firm underlying structure, so that every touchpoint, a postcard, an invoice, a bookmark slipped into a book with a handwritten note, is unmistakably the gallery. Within that structure, variation is welcome. Nothing is remade from scratch; nothing feels made from a template. The brand behaves like the spaces the gallery keeps: composed, personal, and quietly evolving.
